Duties and Responsibilities
As Senior Human Resources Manager, I will assume full responsibility for the efficient operation and continuous development of the Human Resources department, working closely with the Cluster Director of Human Resources – Italy & Ibiza and the General Manager to deliver the property's people strategy.
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department, ensuring compliance with Six Senses standards, company policies and applicable Italian employment legislation.
- Support the development and implementation of the property's Human Resources strategy, including manpower planning, recruitment, payroll and benefits budgeting, training, Host engagement and retention.
- Partner with Department Heads and ExCom to anticipate staffing needs, strengthen workforce planning and ensure the timely recruitment of talent aligned with Six Senses values and service standards.
- Drive recruitment and employer branding initiatives to attract, select and retain the right talent, while promoting internal mobility and career development opportunities.
- Support succession planning, talent reviews and Individual Development Plans (IDPs), identifying high-potential Hosts and building a strong internal talent pipeline.
- Lead, coach and develop the Human Resources team, providing clear direction, regular feedback and individual development opportunities to foster collaboration, accountability and continuous learning.
- Build trusted relationships with Hosts and leaders, acting as a role model for the Six Senses vision and values and promoting an inclusive, respectful and high-performing workplace.
- Lead Host engagement initiatives, satisfaction surveys and feedback mechanisms, developing action plans to strengthen the Host experience and foster a positive workplace culture.
- Oversee performance management processes, probation reviews, annual appraisals and development conversations, supporting leaders in building accountable, engaged and high-performing teams.
- Encourage open communication, recognise achievements and support the development of future leaders, ensuring Hosts have opportunities to grow and reach their full potential.
- Ensure job descriptions, employment contracts, Host files and all Human Resources documentation are accurate, up to date and handled confidentially.
- Monitor payroll, benefits and Human Resources costs in collaboration with Finance, ensuring accurate forecasting, budgetary control and timely reporting.
- Conduct salary and benefits benchmarking, providing recommendations to maintain competitiveness and ensure alignment with local market practices and statutory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with Italian labour legislation, collective bargaining agreements, contractual obligations, health and safety requirements, data protection and other applicable regulations, in collaboration with external consultants where required.
- Support employee relations matters, advising Department Heads on people management, disciplinary procedures, conflict resolution and the consistent application of company policies.
- Oversee onboarding, orientation, training and Host development initiatives in collaboration with the Training team and Departmental Trainers, ensuring Hosts understand and embody the Six Senses philosophy.
- Champion Mission Wellness initiatives, promoting physical, mental, emotional and social wellbeing throughout the property in collaboration with the Human Resources and Sustainability teams.
- Promote sustainability and social responsibility initiatives, encouraging active Host participation and embedding responsible practices into everyday operations.
- Oversee Host accommodation, Host facilities, the Host restaurant and other Host welfare initiatives, ensuring a safe, supportive and engaging working environment.
- Coordinate Host engagement activities, recognition programmes, awards, meetings, celebrations and internal communications to strengthen connection and collaboration across departments.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with all Department Heads and ExCom members, ensuring Human Resources is a trusted business partner and a visible, approachable presence for Hosts.
- Partner closely with the Cluster Director of Human Resources – Italy & Ibiza and the General Manager to align people priorities with business objectives, strengthen the property's culture and support overall business performance.
- Prepare and submit accurate Human Resources reports, forecasts, budgets and other corporate and legally required documentation within established deadlines.
- Review Human Resources processes, systems and procedures, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen internal controls and enhance the overall Host experience.
- Keep abreast of industry trends, best practices and developments in luxury hospitality, talent management and employment legislation, continuously seeking opportunities to innovate and elevate the Human Resources function.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by the Cluster Director of Human Resources – Italy & Ibiza and the General Manager.
Qualifications
To execute the position of Senior Human Resources Manager, I must have the required qualifications, technical skills and experience in a similar role within luxury hospitality, with proven results, including:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Hospitality Management or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar Human Resources role within luxury hotels or the hospitality industry.
- Previous experience working in Italy, with a strong understanding of Italian labour laws, employment regulations and HR practices.
- Proven experience successfully managing high-volume recruitment processes, workforce planning and employee relations.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English and Italian. Additional languages are considered an advantage.
- Must hold a valid EU passport or the appropriate legal authorisation to work in Italy.
