Duties and Responsibilities
As Director of Sales & Marketing, I will assume full responsibility for the efficient operation of the Sales & Marketing department to provide exceptional products and services within brand operating standards. My key role is to drive the right business at the right price to ensure the resort achieves budgeted occupancy, rate and revenue.
The duties and responsibilities will include :
- Write and implement the marketing plan, contracting, setting sales targets by segment and by client and prospect, undertaking advertising, sales, promotions and publicity initiatives, working with the revenue manager for setting rates, and directing the Sales & Marketing team.
- Continually focus on revenue generation and profile building for our resort and spa and for Six Senses.
- Constantly assess marketing strategies and tactics to remain relevant and effective.
- Establish and deliver pre-established financial returns related to revenue generation, profitability and ROIC.
- Operate the property consistent with all legal, statutory and financial requirements and documentation, reporting systems, contractual obligations, security and safety protocols, communications, product and service standards, host management practices and budgetary controls are implemented, reviewed and maintained to ensure the successful operation of the hotel.
- Keep abreast of industry trends, market intelligence and competitor activity to continuously enhance the property's commercial performance.
- Develop, implement and monitor the annual Sales & Marketing Business Plan aligned with the property's commercial objectives and long-term strategy.
- Drive the right business at the right price to achieve budgeted occupancy, ADR, RevPAR and total revenue across Rooms, Food & Beverage, Spa, Meetings & Events and other revenue-generating outlets.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key luxury leisure, MICE, travel trade, corporate and strategic partners.
- Attend industry trade shows, roadshows, client events and networking opportunities as a brand ambassador.
- Monitor market benchmarks and competitor intelligence to proactively adjust pricing, segmentation and sales strategies.
- Oversee all commercial reporting, including monthly performance analysis, forecasts, market share, production reports and strategic recommendations for ownership and executive leadership.
- Prepare and present regular Month-End Reports summarizing commercial performance, key activities, achievements, challenges and action plans.
- Create the Sales & Marking Budget
- Ensure all departmental budgets, including payroll and operating expenses, are effectively managed while maintaining brand standards.
Qualifications
- To execute the position of Director of Sales & Marketing, I must have the required qualifications, technical skills and experience in a similar role in luxury hotels with proven results and includes the following:
- Possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Marketing, or related field and five years total experience in hospitality or hotels sales and marketing setting, with direct supervisory experience over a sales team, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. More than five years’ experience in a senior sales and marketing role, preferred.
- Fluent in English and French
- Minimum five years' experience in a senior sales and marketing leadership position within luxury hotels or resorts.
- Strong experience across Luxury Leisure, MICE, Corporate and Travel Trade market segments.
- Established national and international luxury travel industry network.
- Excellent commercial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, pricing strategy and revenue optimization.
- Proven leadership experience in managing high-performing commercial teams.
- Strong analytical, negotiation and presentation skills.
- Advanced knowledge of CRM, PMS, Revenue Management and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; French and additional languages are an advantage.
- High degree of integrity, professionalism, discretion and strategic thinking.
- I will maintain a thorough understanding of Six Senses in terms of guidelines, rules and regulations, brand and operating standards, facilities and services.
