Your day to day

Our team is growing due to ongoing expansion of the region.  As such we are now recruiting for a Corporate Counsel to support Australasia and the Pacific.  The role will be based in our Sydney Head office and will report into the Head of Legal for Japan, Australasia and Pacific. This amazing new opportunity will support our Head of Legal and relevant business functions to ensure regional growth objectives are achieved and ensure IHG business is at all times conducted in a responsible manner. Responsible for providing timely and practical legal support to the relevant business function and stakeholders, including negotiation of hotel management and franchise agreements, support to the business for any hotel disposal, acquisition, lease, joint venture, variation or other transactional activity, managing owner relationships and related operational and contractual issues. Assisting with contract and template management and providing advice on legal compliance matters.

What we need from you

To be successful in the role the following skills and attributes will be highly advantageous. 

Education & Experience

  • At least 3 years’ working experience either in-house or in a law firm
  • Commonwealth qualified lawyer
  • Experience handling local legal issues in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific region.
  • Strong influencing skills, able to build and sustain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Decisive, results-driven, excellent interpersonal skills, highly organized, good management ability
  • Good commercial acumen and creative problem-solving skills
  • Proactive and results driven
  • Good negotiating and drafting skills and experience
  • Able to prioritize and adapt well to changing priorities.
  • Ability to liaise professionally with multiple stakeholders including Leadership Team and hotel owners.
